The Music of the Bible
As theorised by Suzanne Hak-Vantoura
This page contains PDF downloads of the work of Suzanne Haik-Vantoura, a Jewish composer who claims to have rediscovered not just the music of the Bible – but the precise melodies of the original compositions.
Books and Articles
All of this begins with Suzanne Haik-Vantoura’s 1976 book, “The Music of the Bible Revealed”, a 1990 translation into English is available for download here. This book is quite technical however, and an easier to understand introduction to the subject is provided by David Mitchell’s article “Resinging the Temple Psalmody” and John Wheeler’s “The Origin of the Music of the Temple”, or Michael Levy’s “The Original 3000 Year Old Music of the Bible Revealed?”
Sheet Music
Suzanne Haik-Vantoura has deciphered approximately 25% of the Old Testament and this is available for download here. Much of the sheet music is of varying quality, and only about half contains English translation from the original Hebrew.
