NT text, reliability
With perhaps a dozen exceptions, the text of every verse in
the NT (written 1,900 years ago) is so far settled by scholars that any dispute
as to its readings must relate to the interpretation of the words, rather than
to any doubts respecting the words themselves.
But in every one of Shakespeare's 37 plays (all less than 400
years old) there are probably a hundred readings still in dispute, a number of
which materially affect the meaning of the passages in which they
occur.
